Questa mattina ho presentato al Sindaco Ravaioli le mie dimissioni da assessore comunale. Qui sotto la lettera inviata oggi all'amico Alberto Ravaioli:
Caro Sindaco,
con la presente consegno le mie dimissioni da Assessore del Comune di Rimini, carica che ho avuto l'onore di ricoprire, con varie deleghe, per dieci anni. È un passo dovuto per potermi dedicare totalmente al ruolo di candidato a Presidente della Provincia di Rimini per la nostra coalizione di centrosinistra; lascio con la consapevolezza di aver fatto per intero il mio dovere, nell'interesse della città e della comunità riminese.
I dieci anni passati insieme a te, con le due giunte che si sono succedute, hanno rappresentato per me un patrimonio immenso in termini di crescita professionale, maturazione umana, possibilità di sviluppare relazioni e conoscenza profonda della nostra Città e delle dinamiche che la animano.
Per questo il primo, commosso, ringraziamento va a te. Grazie Alberto della fiducia che mi hai riservato e sempre rinnovato, grazie per avermi permesso di esprimere e di crescere, per avermi sostenuto nei momenti più difficili, come politico e come uomo.
Grazie a tutti gli Assessori che si sono succeduti in questi dieci anni di intenso e appagante lavoro delle due giunte da te presiedute. Il rapporto con loro è stato caratterizzato da stima reciproca, rispetto, interesse e fiducia. Insieme è stato possibile costruire un progetto di Città ambizioso e all'altezza delle sfide della modernità; una Rimini migliore, aperta all'innovazione e competitiva a livello internazionale, ma anche con una forte identità che la lega indissolubilmente alla propria gente, alla propria tradizione, alle proprie radici.
Non meno importante è stato il supporto, il confronto e, talvolta, lo scontro avuto con i Consiglieri Comunali, di maggioranza e di minoranza; anche a tutti loro va un mio sentito ringraziamento.
Ricordo con affetto inoltre tutti i Direttori, i Dirigenti, il Personale con cui ho avuto la fortuna di collaborare. A loro va un grande ringraziamento per l'impegno e la professionalità dimostrata.
La tua fiducia, il tuo affetto, le tue "cure", mi hanno permesso oggi di essere qui e di rendere possibile questa nuova sfida per la Presidenza della Provincia di Rimini.
Una sfida che affronto con convinzione e dedizione, consapevole che anche in questa nuova avventura potrò contare sul tuo sincero appoggio, e il grande entusiasmo che mi hai sempre dimostrato in questi anni.
